Hey Mr. DJ

I love mid-90's mixtape/hook singers.


Yvette Michelle, Mona Lisa, Miss Jones, etc... None of them had amazing voices, but they sounded dope over hip hop loops. Many tried to do what Mary J created with "What's the 411?" and "My Life." The made records you could just bob your head to and smile. Songs like "I'm Not Feelin You," "Can't Be Wasting My Time" and hooks like AZ' "Sugar Hill" and "OC's "Far From Yours." They were just dope records that you could vibe out to and have fun with.
