"Back In The Daaaays" (c) Ahmad

I was disaapointed in this documentary...

Say what you want to say but the subject of this film chnaged society. The subject of the film is what it is... and the controversy regarding the film "Deep Throat" is historic, but i felt like the could have touched on a few major points a little more... mainly the obscenity charges and where the money went. They do talk about the obscenity charges, but they could have gone into more details because it is amazing that they wanted to charge the actors with these charges for making a film while we were in the middle of a war in Vietnam, etc...

One thing I wish they would have discussed more (but i understand why they couldn't) is the "business" side of "Deep Throat." For the record, "Deep Throat" is one of the most profitable films ever made. It only cost $25,000 to make, and has earned over $600 million... but the funny thing is... most people don't know where that money went. In the 1970s, the mob had its hand in many businesses... including porn. That is where the funding came from... and also where most of the profits went. To me that is a very interesting aspect of the film's history because it is something that most people don't think about.

Overall, it was an okay retelling of the film's history, but it could have been better.

Seriously, go ahead and bring back everything from the 80s... hell bring back every style and artist from the 70s if you want... but for real... NO ONE needs to bring back this guy's music, look, etc... Please don't punish society with this stuff again. kthxbye.

"I hope you have a bad day" (c) Rakim

What happened to smiling? What happened to common courtesy? Has life really gotten so tough that people just feel like they need to walk around mad all day? Everyday i see people just walking around with frowns on their faces. Now I will admit that I have let things get to me from time to time... and have walked around with a look on my face like I was going to punch anyone in fron of me... but for the most part this is me:

I prefer to smile cause life should never be so hard that you can't smile or laugh at something. I don't care what happens during the day... chances are you will see me with a smile on my face at some point. I've reached a point where I've realized that life just isn't that serious.

Part of me is starting to think that common courtesy doesn't exist. To me you should smile when you greet people... you should hold the door for people... you should stand in line... move out of the way when people need you to do so... clean up after yourself, etc... To me these are just things you are supposed to do. But I guess not everyone has been taught these things... damn shame. (I also think I'm cursed with common sense... i'll touch on that one another time.)

"Black sand, Tahiti, ten days to reminisce" (c) LL Cool J

I want to be here:

Or here:

This would be nice:

This could be fun:
It would be fresh to be here:

This would be good too:

This would be lovely:

I could see myself here:

Or here:
Or even here:

It dawn on me today that I haven't been on a vacation in over 10 years. I'm talking a real vacation where you go somewhere and forget about everything for a week or two. (At this point I trying to remember what a vacation is because I seriously can't imagine what "getting away form it all for a few days" really means.) I haven't been in a position where I could afford to just get away from everything. I've either been in school, working to pay bills or just simply couldn't afford to go anywhere. I've take trips to a few places for a day or two but there have always been reasons for the trips other than to relax. And when I did have the time, I simply didn't have the money to go on a vacation because I was too worried about earning money to be an adult.

See certain things in my life change rapidly. I finally reached a point where I could take the time and possibly afford to go somewhere, but for certain reasons I had to make a change in my life, which means no time for a vacation for me.

Oh well... I can't complain... I guess it is a good thing to constantly be working toward a better life. Maybe the day I touch a million plus I'll be able to finally take a break and go somewhere. But it would be nice to be in one of those pictures above.

Gotta keep grindin and keep-keepin-on :)

"95 is yours... 2000 is mine" (c) Group Home

Have you ever been asked: If you could go back in time, where would you go?
You ever heard people say they would go back and change some big historical event... like take out Hitler before he got into power or something like that? Well as noble as it would be to do something like... there are a few problem with that thinking. The first is that I don't think it would be that easy to just change something like. Secondly, you have to deal with the Back To The Future Factor.

What is the Back To The Future Factor you might ask? Well if you are a fan of the movie trilogy with same title... you would know that this is basically the idea that one small change in the past can drastically change the future. So again, as noble as it would be to change history for the better... it could seriously fuck up your life in the future.

That is why my answer to this question is really simple... i would go to two times in history and do nothing more than observe. The first would the Gaza Plateau in Egypt around the time the pyramids were built... just to see the process. I just want to see exactly how they were built with such accuracy.

The second time in history would be Minneapolis, MN circa 1983/1984... just to stand in First Avenue and watch Prince & The Revolution perform. You can watch Purple Rain 10 million times and it wouldn't have the same impact as standing in that club and watching that magic happen live. Plus just to see the vibe in First Avenue would be fresh.

See... nothing changed... the future would still be the same when i returned.... hahahaha

"It's the questions (What?) it's the questions c'mon" (c) Common

Question... what the fuck is up with the "male culottes"? you know what i'm talking about... shorts, usually of the denim variety, that even when fitted at the waist still hang down to the middle of the shin.

The mis-proportion design is the problem... they look ugly. what is the point of wearing shorts that damn near reach your ankles? And when dudes do sag them... they damn near do touch the ankles. who said this was a fly style? why not just wear pants? I can understand it might be too hot to wear pants sometimes, but this style is ridiculous.

Question... what exactly is the point of having a person on stage during your performance who does absolutely nothing? dude does have a mic... ain't dancing... you ain't that well known to need protection... so why is he there?

"Silky, milky her smile is like sunshine" (c) LL Cool J

What is the first thing you see when you look at this 12" cover?

I'm guessing it is this:
I've never been a fan of the straight-up "sex sells" marketing philosophy, but there was always something interesting about the Game Recording 12" covers. They pulled no punches... they simply put a half-naked woman on the cover and the artist on the back cover. They knew that an image like the one above would grab the viewers attention, and at least make them look at the record.
Of course it is hard to tell how well this concept worked... Royce 5'9" was really the only well know rapper they ever signed. It was still an interesting concpet.
I won't even touch on the "Hip Hop Honeys" DVD series... again interesting in concept, but they were about as interesting as a Playboy video.

A dedication to some fly beautiful women...
First off, just a reminder... she is still the flyest on the planet
She is still fly:
She loves comic books and makes dope movies... what more can you say
She is fly... plain and simple

Simply beautiful

Everyone had a crush on her at some point
T-Boz and Left Eye were fresh... but she ALWAYS looked amazing

She wasn't just Kevin Arnold's crush
"Sex Shooter" pretty much said everything... and who can forget Lake Minnetonka

Amazingly beautiful with a beautiful voice

Not a huge fan of her music, but still...

She just has a dope style

Again... simply beautiful

Yes, we all know what she does for a living, but that doesn't mean she isn't beautiful

The same goes for her... what can I say

A great combination

That is a lovely sweater

Fresh style...

It isn't really my style, but there is something interesting and beautiful about the new age pin-up/tattoo model
Yes, she has been linked to half of Hollywood... she was best friends with what's her name... made that tape... sounds annoying in interviews... but i mean daaaaamn... look at those curves... thats all i have to say

"From the wrong side of the tracks" (c) Artifacts

Music... graffiti... photos... oh my.
The layout for this record is still dope to me... and the one who designed it has only gotten better with time.
I could never figure out why all of the artwork for this project was so blurry... still dope tho
Maybe it should have been "The World Is Mine" cause he didn't stop at just the city

You don't even have to be Mexican to love this record... it is just simply dope

These are pieces from a wall i discovered in downtown SF... the entire wall is fresh

And now... some photos
